Manchester United morning headlines as Thiago issues update on future plus Reguilon transfer hint

Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for Sunday, 6 September.

Thiago Alcantara responds to Manchester United rumours

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has issued a defiant message about his future amid continued speculation linking him with a move this summer.

The Spanish midfielder has reportedly told the German giants he won’t be extending his current contract at the Allianz which expires in 2021.

This has fuelled rumours of a potential move to Old Trafford however, M.E.N. Sport understands that Thiago is not a priority target and the player himself has now seemingly shut down any suggesting he’ll be leaving the Champions League winners.

“I have not said at any time that I am leaving,” Thiago told reporters ahead of Spain's UEFA Nations League match against the Ukraine.

“Every year you put me in a different team. I am on the sidelines, my future is tomorrow’s game right now. I neither care nor am I interested in what I know I talked.”

De Gea fuels Reguilon speculation with social media post

David De Gea has sent Manchester United fans into a frenzy after posting a selfie with reported Reds target Sergio Reguilon.

The Real Madrid defender has been subject of transfer rumours linking him with a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United 2020/21 season preview

His future at the Bernabeu remains uncertain, and United are understood to be monitoring his situation.

Left-back Reguilon spent last season on loan at Sevilla and was part of the team that knocked United out of the Europa League in the semi finals - picking up an assist for his side’s first goal in the 2-1 win.

The 23-year-old’s impressive displays have seen him earn a call-up to the Spain senior squad where he linked up with United stopper De Gea.

Greenwood makes England debut

Mason Greenwood made his senior England debut as a late substitute in the dramatic 1-0 victory over Iceland.

The United youngster replaced captain Harry Kane in the 78th minute and showed some nice touches coming in off the right hand side.

At 18 years old, Greenwood is the third youngest England debutant from United, after Duncan Edwards and Wayne Rooney, as well as the 125th United academy graduate to represent the Three Lions.
