Wan-Bissaka injury update
Manchester United ran out comfortable winners in Europe last night, beating Istanbul Basaksehir 4-1 in the Champions League.
Victor Lindelof left the fray at half time, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined him on the hour mark. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an update on the players after the match .
"Hopefully they'll be ready for the weekend," he said. "It's an ankle for Aaron and back for Victor. There was no point taking any more risks."
Opinion: Cavani can be United’s focal point
There was much to enjoy about United’s win last night. One pleasing aspect of it was how comfortable new signing Edinson Cavani looked as the focal point of the team.
Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford haven’t had much opportunity to play as a trio for one reason or another this season, and Cavani may have forced his way into the front three.
Tyrone Marshall came up with five talking points from United’s 4-1 victory, and Cavani’s performance was among them.
There’s also praise for Fernandes, as well as a look at the impact of the five subs rule, some thoughts on Dean Henderson’s future and a look at the Reds’ improved form at Old Trafford.
Scholes praises Van de Beek
Donny van de Beek was handed a rare start for United last night, and former midfielder Paul Scholes gave his thoughts on the Dutchman's performance in a deeper role to BT Sport after the match .
“Where he played tonight looked like his best position,” Scholes said. “I think he’ll be willing to try and do that (defensive side), but it won’t be the defensive quality he’ll bring, it’ll be the link-up play between the forward players which is important.”
Van de Beek remains the only United player who has scored a non-penalty goal in the league at Old Trafford so far this season.
