Manchester United morning headlines as Santos star reveals transfer dream and Dean Henderson latest

Here are the Manchester United headlines on Friday May 1.

Brazilian dream

Santos star Yeferson Soteldo says he would happily spend the rest of his career at Old Trafford were he to be offered the chance to sign for Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has only been at Santos for a year and has already been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Everton rumoured to have been interested during the last transfer window.

But in a new interview, Soteldo has reiterated that a switch to United would be his dream move.

"I don’t like rumours, I have my whole family in Venezuela. I want to finish this stage at Santos by December, win the Copa Libertadores and whatever is possible and then take another step," he told Gazeta Esportiva.

"I always dreamed of playing for Manchester United, the dream remains intact.”

He also revealed that he has followed United since childhood since becoming a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, adding: "I would choose them easy. I would sign a lifetime contract."

Project Restart meeting imminent

United chiefs will be part of today’s Premier League ‘Project Restart’ meeting – to discuss plans to conclude the 2019-20 season.

It is thought that the Premier League wants to copy the Bundesliga by setting out a timetable to play the remaining matches, rather than terminating the season as has been done in the Netherlands and France.

An announcement is expected after the meeting that outlines when play might resume – and that is probably the end of July, with August set aside for the conclusion of the European competitions.

Henderson latest

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not be leaving United any time soon following the conclusion of his loan spell with Sheffield United, according to reports.

The MEN previously reported that the 23-year-old only wants to return to Old Trafford if he will definitely be first choice – and ESPN state United will reject any offers for him in the upcoming transfer window, as they plan to loan him out for another season as they consolidate his long-term future at the club.

Peter Schmeichel said last month that Henderson was not quite ready to become United’s first-choice goalkeeper in place of David de Gea, explaining: “There's no doubt about Henderson's potential, but he's played one season at a club who has had an unbelievable run in the Premier League.

“But Henderson will need to show another season, like he's just come through, and then another one, and another one, in order to convince everyone that he is the right guy.”
