Cole warns United over Greenwood development if Sancho signs
Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has raved about the potential of teenage star Mason Greenwood at Old Trafford.
The comments come amid United's interest in the Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho this summer, with fears that his arrival could stunt Greenwood’s development.
“Mason is scary, absolutely scary,” Cole told the Press Association. “If this kid lives up to his potential, United have one on their hands.
“It’s scary and long may it continue. He needs to keep doing what he’s doing, scoring goals and putting pressure on those up front, and as he matures and learns the game even more United have a player who could be anything.
“He can play as a nine and he can play out wide of a three, so it will be interesting to see where United think his best position is and what they see him as."
Cole added: "If they do bring in Sancho then you’ve got to be careful as you don’t want to block his (Greenwood's) progress.
“United do need to bring in players as you must improve every season but it’s a fine balance. If you have a player like Mason Greenwood then you can’t afford to block their progress.”
Rojo returns to Manchester
Marcos Rojo has returned to England as he awaits a resolution on his United future in the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old is back at United following a disastrous loan spell with boyhood club Estudiantes which saw him make only one appearance as a combination of injury and lockdown ended his season early.
Rojo's loan expired at the end of June but United had no plans to reintegrate him into their first-team squad before their own season ended, and it remains to be seen how his future will be resolved.
United tried to sell Rojo in four of the last five summer transfer windows and will let him leave this summer if they receive an appropriate offer, although finding a buyer could prove difficult given his wage demands in the current climate.
Tromso bid farewell to Hansen-Aaroen ahead of United move
Tromso have bid farewell to Isak Hansen-Aaroen ahead of his move to Manchester United.
Norwegian Hansen-Aaroen turns 16 on Saturday and United are expected to formally confirm his arrival having already announced their initial academy intake of first-year scholars.
United agreed a deal for Hansen-Aaroen last year and the MEN reported the Norwegian would move to Manchester this month.
Hansen-Aaroen became Tromso's youngest-ever player at the age of 15 years and 319 days last month and United have been hopeful of confirming his arrival before the start of the academy season.
In a post on their Instagram page, Tromso wrote: "A wonderful person. A unique football talent. Who just loves to play football now.
"From Fløya to TIL as a junior, into the academy as a 10-year-old, learns at the TIL school and debut for the first team as a 15-year-old. Assist in his last match for Tromsø IL, this time.
"Thank you so much for the last ten years and good luck in Manchester United and on in your career. We hope you have a great time, see you soon."
