Manchester United morning headlines as Keane fires Solskjaer sack warning

Pogba accepts responsibility for Arsenal error

Manchester United ’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal was a game of few clear-cut chances, so it’s not a huge surprise it was settled by a single goal.

That goal was scored by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who converted from the penalty spot after Paul Pogba fouled Hector Bellerin.

Pogba spoke about his mistake after the match, admitting it cost his team the game and contributed to them dropping to 15th in the table.

"Today, the mistake made us lose the game - my mistake,” Pogba told MUTV . “Like I said, my mistake. I shouldn't do that, I have to be better in the box.

"I put my hands up for this mistake, it shouldn't happen. Of course the team has my back and everything but me personally I'm hitting myself to give away a penalty like that and lose 1-0 to a stupid mistake.”

Neville's brutal reality check

Gary Neville knows what it’s like to be part of a successful United side, but the former captain can also recognise when things are not going well.

Despite impressing in the Champions League, United have taken just seven points from their six Premier League games.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal, Neville outlined just where things are going wrong for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

"There’s more problems than solutions," Neville said. "You’ve got six midfield players at the club, and you’ve got to somehow get them into a system which is forcing Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] to play a diamond.

"I think there was an element of thinking that he could put any four players in a diamond after what happened in midweek, but McTominay on the right-hand side wasn’t working after five minutes"

Neville also spoke about issues in the full-back positions, and concerns around squad rotation, while referencing the failure to sign Jadon Sancho over the summer.

Keane repeats Solskjaer sack prediction

Solskjaer’s position has come under scrutiny once more after United’s start to the league season, and Roy Keane has once again predicted the manager will lose his job.

“I never looked at a manager in all my career before the match and I’m talking about some great managers, and some bad managers, going back to when I was eight or nine years of age ... I never looked at a manager and asked if they were going to motivate me today,” Keane said on Sky Sports .

“It comes from within, it comes from your DNA, what you stand for, your background, your family, your team-mates.

"Ole will lose his job, walk out of this group of players, that’s what’s going to happen,” he added, suggesting the manager will pay the price for the lack of impact from his squad.

“I’ve been saying it for the last month or two, but you still think, ‘you never know in this game. Things might change’, and you think it’s up to Ole to motivate these players for Arsenal at home.”
