Manchester United morning headlines as Henderson sends message to De Gea

Maguire 'feared for life' during Mykonos incident

Harry Maguire says he was scared for his life and will not be apologising for the incident in Mykonos which resulted in the Manchester United captain receiving a suspended prison sentence of 21 months and 10 days.

Following his arrest on the Greek island on August 20, Maguire was subsequently found guilty of assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery, although those convictions have since been overturned after an appeal was lodged on Wednesday.

In his first televised appearance since the incident, Maguire told BBC's Sports Editor Dan Roan he had feared for his life and that he felt as though he had nothing to apologise for.

"It was horrible it’s not something I ever want to do again I don’t wish it on anybody,” said the 27-year-old. "It’s the first time I had ever been inside a prison. I don’t feel like I owe an apology to anyone - an apology is something you give when you have done something wrong.

"I regret being in the situation. Obviously the situation made it difficult. I play for one of the biggest clubs in the world so I regret putting the fans and the club through this."

Henderson keen to learn from De Gea

United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has told David de Gea he is looking forward to learning from the Spaniard after signing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Henderson is expected to challenge De Gea for the No.1 spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side after penning a new five-year deal following his return from his loan spell at Sheffield United.

“Yeah, obviously I can’t wait to get back in and I know them well," he told MUTV. "David de Gea has had an unbelievable career at the football club and it wasn’t so long ago I was saying, if I could replicate that career one day I would be a very proud man.

“So to learn off him and the other two top goalkeepers within the department would be great. I am really looking forward to it.”

New academy duo appear to confirm squad numbers

Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez have seemingly confirmed their squad numbers at United before being officially announced as new signings.

MEN Sport understands that the pair are still waiting to be given international clearance that will allow them to be officially signed by the club, but United have no concerns that the process will soon be completed.

Both players arrived in Manchester earlier this week ahead of their moves to  Old Trafford  and have already been given their new training gear.

Jurado posted a photo on his Instagram story of the pair wearing their United track tops, and have seemingly revealed their squad numbers in the process. Fernandez was wearing the No.90 and Jurado the No.88.

Their high squad numbers are no surprise given neither player is expected to be anywhere near the first team next season, but academy players are required to don first-team shirt numbers in EFL Trophy matches, which both players could feature in.
