Manchester United morning headlines as Bruno and Fred praised and Pogba discusses woes

Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for November 16.

Key duo for United press

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is intent on making his Manchester United team one who has higher energy and more pressing, with two players leading the way on that front.

As highlighted by the MEN , Bruno Fernandes (122) and Fred (102) are the only two United players to have made more than 100 pressures of an opponent in possession during a game.

Fernandes reached that tally in 6.3 games while Fred took just 4.2 matches, while Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are the only other players to make over 80 pressures.

Manchester United writers discuss Paul Pogba's future

This is a fundamental aspect to Solskjaer’s demands and goes a long way to explaining why those players are so important to his side.

Pogba opens up on United difficulties

Paul Pogba has admitted this is the most ‘difficult period in my career’ and has claimed joining up with the France national squad is like ‘a breath of fresh air’.

The Frenchman has endured a difficult season so far for United - not yet registering a goal or assist in the Premier League, whilst conceding penalties at home to both Tottenham and Arsenal.

Pogba has now been dropped from the United starting line-up but his performances enjoyed an upturn at an international level, as he helped his nation beat Portugal on Saturday.

"I had never known such a difficult period in my career," he told RTL , in quotes carried by the MEN .

"The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it's magic."

United fans react to Raul Jimenez claim

Manchester United fans have reacted to claims from Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez that the club tried to sign him this summer.

"One day I woke up and Juventus wanted me, another Manchester United and what I know is that there were approaches made," Jimenez told TUDN , as per the MEN .

"But an agreement was never reached and nothing was close. I'm very happy at Wolves."

The MEN report now outlines fan reaction to the news, with a split in opinion between whether he would be a necessary signing or if he would be behind Anthony Martial or Edinson Cavani in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
