Manchester United have been scouting Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.
United are expected to further strengthen their squad when the transfer window opens and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the club are continuing to hold internal discussions on targets amid the suspension of football.
Ideally, United want to sign a striker, a right winger and a central midfielder, and a player who could fulfil the central-midfield role is the 25-year-old Rabiot, who United have been interested in before.
MEN Sport reported last May that United were monitoring Rabiot's situation at his former club Paris Saint-Germain, as he was readying to leave on a free transfer.
However, instead the Frenchman joined Juventus but hasn't played the starring role he may have expected initially, as it took him until December to become a regular starter in the side and he has only made 24 appearances this season.
His game time had been so limited that he was linked with a swift exit in January and, according to TuttoMercato, via SportWitness, he may leave this summer.
It's claimed that a number of Premier League clubs have been following Rabiot and that United are particularly interested, apparently sending scouts to watch him in the Champions League.
The report states that Juve would be wiling to sell as they would make a hefty profit on a player they signed for free, yet that very reason may also put United off.
MEN Sport understands that Jack Grealish is their priority central midfield target, while they are also interested in James Maddison and Jude Bellingham as they stick to their remit of signing young, talented and preferably British players.
Meanwhile, four Premier League clubs are reportedly on the trail of United’s Jesse Lingard, who could move away from Old Trafford this summer.
It’s been claimed by 90min, that Newcastle, West Ham, Everton and Leicester have all registered an interest in Lingard, who is now represented by Mino Raiola.
If United opt not to trigger the year extension clause in Lingard’s contract, then it will expire in June 2021.
