Manchester United 'monitor' Philippe Coutinho over summer transfer move

Manchester United are one of four clubs considering a summer move for Philippe Coutinho, according to the latest reports in Spain.

Mundo Deportivo suggest the former Liverpool midfielder will be allowed to leave Barcelona in the coming weeks and that United are one side who could make a move for him.

According to the report, Barcelona no longer see Coutinho in their first-team plans going forward and are expected to give his starting place to new arrival Frenkie de Jong.

It is also reported that the player is looking for a 'change of scenery' and is himself open to a return to England after a turbulent year and a half in Barcelona.

United aren't the only side linked with a move, however, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain both supposedly monitoring a move for the 26-year-old. The report also adds that Chelsea will move for Coutinho if they manage to overturn the current transfer ban but the MEN should stress there is nothing official to suggest United will go for Coutinho this summer.

In terms of other transfer gossip, United are reportedly hoping to include Romelu Lukaku in a swap-deal should he leave the club this summer.

The Belgian forward continues to be linked with a move to Inter Milan in the coming months, and United have supposedly identified two players they'd like to receive in any deal.

The Star suggest United are big admirers of Inter duo Ivan Perisic and Milan Skriniar and could look to gain one in any deal to sell Lukaku this summer.
