Jesse Lingard and Fred face uncertain futures at Manchester United after being taken off in the Europa League victory against LASK, says Paul Scholes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fielded a much-changed line-up for the second leg at Old Trafford with their progress to the quarter-finals all but confirmed after a 5-0 win in Austria.
Lingard was one of the beneficiaries from the Norwegian's decision to make nine changes and the 27-year-old made an impression, scoring the equaliser after Philipp Wiesinger's stunning opener.
But just eight minutes later, Lingard was substituted by Solskjaer along with Brazilian midfielder Fred, who has slipped out of the starting XI since the season restarted.
United went on to win 2-1 on the night - 7-1 on aggregate - and former Man United man Scholes believes the duo could be heading out of the club with Solskjaer seemingly unconvinced by their contributions.
"Recently, he's not been good enough," Scholes told BT Sport.
"To bring him off after an hour when he definitely won't start on Monday that was a little sign, and Fred as well, that he [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer] might be getting rid of them."
"I know what he's capable of, but at United he's just become a squad player. Unless there are a lot of injuries I don't see Jesse getting a run of games."
The Red Devils will face FC Copenhagen in the last-eight in Cologne in five days' time after the Danish side overcame Istanbul Basaksehir 3-1 on aggregate.
