Manchester United might be about to end Liverpool's Kylian Mbappe dream

Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe, but a deal elsewhere could affect the future of the forward.

The Paris Saint-Germain star has been tentatively linked with a transfer to the Reds for the past couple of years.

Indeed, the Reds were genuinely interested in the forward before he made the switch from Monaco to the French capital, and those rumours have not gone away despite Liverpool’s history of prudence in the transfer market.

The rumours were only enhanced last week when it was claimed by Marca that Mbappe had informed PSG that he does not wish to sign a new contract.

The 22-year-old’s current deal expires next summer, and the Ligue 1 club are desperate to keep hold of their star player.

But Real Madrid are also supposedly long-time admirers of Mbappe, and they could be about to make their interest more concrete.

One player who is looking likely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu is Raphael Varane, with Manchester United circling.

It has been reported that a deal is moving closer to completion, with a €50m fee being branded about.

According to Deportes Cuatro , the money Madrid get from the sale of Varane will be used to sign Mbappe this summer.

They also say that Mbappe wants to join Madrid in August, and will continue to train with PSG but not accept their contract offer.

PSG could be forced to sell Mbappe this summer or run the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 12 months time.
