Manchester United midfielder James Garner is ‘undergoing a medical’ at the City Ground after a deal was agreed, according to reports.
Garner has spent the first part of the season on loan with fellow Championship side Watford, making 20 appearances for the Hornets. He has however been left on the bench for the last three league games.
His lack of starts for the Hornets has led to Manchester United deciding to terminate the loan deal, with reports suggesting that a move to the City Ground in search of more first-team opportunities was a possibility.
Football Insider are now reporting that Forest have ‘won the race’ for the midfielder, and he will sign on loan until the end of the season.
The report claims that Garner is undergoing a medical on Saturday morning before completing the formalities of a move.
Just a few hours earlier, Watford boss Xisco Munoz spoke of Garner’s need to be patient for chances in the starting lineup.
"I think for Garner, he is an excellent player and I'm very happy with him," he told the Watford Observer.
He's not getting the minutes but all I can say to him is: 'Wait' because we can only play 11 people, this is the reality, and Chalo, Will, and Tom, they are at an excellent level.
"Every time they give very good performances and we need to continue. I'm very happy with James, he's a big professional, he's working every day excellently and all I can say is: 'Sorry, man, wait for your opportunity and when you have your opportunity, you have to show everyone that no one can take you out of the first 11.”
Queens Park Rangers were also said to be interested in taking the midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.
