Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba told why Real Madrid transfer might not be possible

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba might not be allowed to leave the club this summer due to his importance to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

That is according to former Real midfielder and France international Claude Makelele, who claims Pogba is a good fit for the Spanish giants.

Pogba has been linked with Madrid since claiming he wants a 'new challenge', but a spending spree at the Bernabeu to sign the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao means funds might not be available for Pogba.

Nevertheless, Makelele thinks another factor will hinder Pogba's hopes of moving to the Spanish capital - his status at United.

Pogba scored or assisted 27 goals in 47 appearances last season, and would be a miss at United if he was to depart.

And asked by Marca  whether Pogba would be a good addition to Zinedine Zidane’s squad, Makelele responded: "Of course. Zidane values this type of player.

"He knows how to do everything and that is difficult. His potential is impressive, but it will be difficult for Manchester United to let him leave because he is a symbol.

"He has character, personality, game, many things. And that’s always good for a team like Real Madrid."
