Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba sends defiant message following Romelu Lukaku racism incident

Paul Pogba has taken to social media to post a defiant anti-racism message after Romelu Lukaku was the subject of racist abuse on Sunday night.

Former Manchester United forward Lukaku was the victim of racist chanting on Sunday evening as Inter Milan defeated Cagliari in Serie A.

Monkey chants were aimed at Lukaku throughout the match, and in particular as he prepared to take a penalty late on in the game.

The Belgian forward celebrated his goal by simply staring in silence at a section of home support from which many of the chants could be heard.

Pogba has long been a campaigner for equality in football, and taking to social media on Monday he uploaded of a picture of himself reading a book captioned with his message.

"Education is the key," Pogba wrote on his latest Instagram upload.

"It does not matter if you like school or not. Go to classes and LEARN as much as you can anyhow. It's your way ahead in life. #BetterLife #NoRacism #DreamChaser #LaRentree."

Speaking after the game Inter manager Conte admitted he had not heard the chanting himself, but confessed that 'more education' is needed in Italian football.

"I really didn't hear anything from the bench," the former Chelsea manager said. "However, it is true that in general in Italy more education is needed."
