Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard reveals Cristiano Ronaldo transfer wish

Jesse Lingard says he would love to see Cristiano Ronaldo sign for Manchester United this summer.

The Portuguese forward is regarded as one the greatest players of all time and has enjoyed a successful first season at Juventus after securing his maiden Serie A title.

Ronaldo rose to prominence following his arrival at United from Sporting Lisbon, and won his first of five Ballon d'Or awards during his spell at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old has only got better with age and enjoyed a sensational spell at Real Madrid in which he was a crucial figure in securing three consecutive Champions League trophies.

It is unlikely Juventus would allow their star forward to leave the club this summer, but Lingard insists there is a place for him in the United squad if he could be tempted back to England.

"I would love [Manchester United] to sign [Cristiano] Ronaldo," the England international told The Mirror. "He has been one of the best players in the world over the last decade.

"He has been here before so he would slot right back in.

"Growing up he was just unbelievable to watch in a United shirt, so on a personal note it would be amazing to play with him."
