Manchester United midfielder has his say on Leeds United and upcoming Australia clash

Leeds United have been branded a top quality side by Manchester United's Scott McTominay.

The Whites will lock horns with their arch-rivals during pre-season, with the two facing off in Perth, Australia, on Wednesday, July 17.

The game will be the first time the two have met since their League Cup third round encounter in 2011, with a brace from Michael Owen and a Ryan Giggs strike handing the Red Devils a comfortable 3-0 win at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's side will also face York City, Guiseley and Western Sydney Wanderers as they prepare for their forthcoming Championship campaign, which kicks off against Bristol City on Sunday, August 4.

However, the game against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side is the stand out fixture in the Whites' summer schedule.

“You need to play the best teams to get a feel for how you’re getting on as a group and how everything is going with the different systems you play,” McTominay told Inside United when asked about his side's upcoming friendlies.

“But more importantly, when you play against the bigger teams, I think that really helps with your match fitness. So, it’s a positive for us that we're playing some real top-quality sides.”
