Manchester United midfielder Fred sends message after being frozen out

Manchester United midfielder Fred is remaining focused as he attempts to work his way back into the first-team picture at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian midfielder is yet to feature for United this season and his stock has plummeted since he moved to Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer.

Fred has been training at United's Carrington complex over the international break after being left out of the Brazil squad for their games against Colombia and Peru.

The 26-year-old is the only senior midfielder in United's squad not to have featured at all this season but he is trying to stay positive ahead of the return of club football this weekend.

"Stay focused on your way while not letting nothing around you stop you from accomplishing your goals," Fred wrote on Instagram as United prepare to welcome Leicester to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Prior to United's draw with Southampton last month, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Fred will begin to feature in the weeks ahead.

"He (Fred) is fine, he’s working hard. At the moment, he’s behind Paul [Pogba], Nemanja [Matic] and Scott [McTominay]," Solskjaer said. "That’s the reason he hasn’t been involved.

"It’s the most difficult period in August to manage a big squad because there is only one game a week and everyone is fit because we’ve just had pre-season and everyone is ready to play.

"September, October, November, December is when injuries come and that’s when you play most of the games, so he will play plenty of football."
