Manchester United midfielder Fred reveals Michael Carrick advice

Manchester United midfielder Fred has revealed how he is receiving special advice from Michael Carrick about his position as a midfielder.

The Brazil international impressed for United at the weekend as he started in their encouraging 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

In the absence of star man Paul Pogba Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed his faith in the Brazilian midfielder by starting him in the massive fixture.

After a slow start to the new Premier League season Fred has shown signs of encouragement over justifying the £52m price-tag which accompanied his move from Shakhtar.

There is still a long way to go if Fred is to be deemed a success at Old Trafford but the 26-year-old has revealed how hard he is working and how he has the support of the United coaching staff.

“I’m learning day by day. I feel like I’m getting better. I have a big heart. I will play better,” he told The Telegraph.

“I like Manchester. My family are here and they like it too. They are speaking English. I’m having English classes, too, but it’s not possible all the time because we travel a lot but we speak lots of languages here.

“I have a good relationship with the manager and the coaches. I speak to the coach [Mike Phelan] every day. And to Michael [Carrick] and Kieran [McKenna]. Michael played in my position – he knows what he is saying. They are always encouraging me and I feel the support of fans, too. And I thank them for that.”
