Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes says he is looking to model his own game around that of Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta.
Fernandes has transformed the United midfield since he arrived in the January transfer window, with the only concern over his best playing position in the squad.
The Portuguese international has shone while playing in an advanced midfield role yet has played most of his football this season operating as a deep-lying playmaker.
Fernandes will be keen to improve both aspects of his game and he says he is taking inspiration from World Cup winner Iniesta in an effort to perfect his own role at United.
“The one I liked to watch and follow was Iniesta, because Iniesta is a mix between an eight and a 10. It is a way I can do better, between eight and 10,” Fernandes told Manchester United’s official website.
“It is the guy who always likes to have the ball, take the risks, and I think Iniesta was one of the best in the world.
“For me, it was impressive how Iniesta finished his career without the Ballon d’Or. With everything he won, it is difficult for me to understand!”
