Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes makes Cristiano Ronaldo admission

Bruno Fernandes has opened up on his friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo and named the Manchester United legend as one of his favourite players.

Fernandes followed in the footsteps of compatriot Ronaldo when he completed his own move from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford earlier in the year.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to have even half the success of Ronaldo during his time in Manchester, and early indications suggest he is on track to do so.

Fernandes has already established himself as a key figure in the United first-team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and was named the Premier League player of the month for his performances in February.

It has been a dream come true for Fernandes at United already, and now he has spoken about good friend Ronaldo and the words of encouragement he has received from him.

“He welcomed me very well to the Portugal national team,” Fernandes told Cronache Di Spogliatoio.

“We look at him as an idol, he has always been an idol for me. I followed his example, he is one of my favourites.

“When I was called up by Portugal, he came to me saying, ‘You are doing a good job at Sporting, I like it’. Words like these make the difference.”
