Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira to join Flamengo on loan

Manchester United are close to finalising a loan move that would see Andreas Pereira join Flamengo for the 2021/2022 season.

The two clubs have been in talks over a deal for the 25 year old and the terms struck will see Pereira remaining with the Brazilian giants until the end of June 2022.

Pereira has been involved in United's pre-season and he scored a sensational goal in the Old Trafford draw with Brentford, but an exit was always likely this summer, either on a permanent departure or on loan once again.

The Brazil international spent last season on loan with Lazio, making 33 appearances in total and 26 in Serie A, although only three of them were starts.

This will be the fourth time Pereira has left United for a season-long loan, having spent the 2016/17 campaign with Granada and 2017/18 with Valencia.

He joined United from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2014 and has made 75 appearances in total, scoring four goals.

Pereira made 40 of those appearances in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first full season in charge, in 2019/20, but he has since been pushed to the fringes of the squad by new signings.

He has two years left on his current contract at Old Trafford, having signed a new four-year deal in March 2019.
