Manchester United mascots wanted for Legends game in Co Down

Mascots are wanted for a special charity match in Co Down next month starring a Manchester United Legends team.

The iconic .

Some of the star names expected to attend include Bryan Robson and Brian McClair.

The exhibition fixture is in honour of Walter McVeigh who passed away suddenly 20 years ago.

Walter died one day after being diagnosed with Acute Mycloid Leukaemia, leaving behind his devastated wife Margaret and young triplets Blake, Ryan and Megan who were only four-and-a-half-years-old.

Since Walter’s passing the McVeigh family have raised money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI and the Anthony Nolan Trust, charities very close to their hearts.

The mascots on August 3 will get the chance to walk the players out and watch the game from the sidelines.

"We are looking for mascots for the legends game," an organiser said.

"They will get to meet the players, run onto the pitch with them and watch from the side lines.

"It is £20 to be a mascot and they must be accompanied by at least one full paying adult.

"Also, there is a lunch followed by a meet and greet available from 12.30pm-1.30pm before the match for a cost of £10.

"If people want to stay to watch the match then they’ll need to purchase match tickets."

Manchester United Legends including Bryan Robson, Keith Gillespie, Sammy McIlroy, Brian McClair, Arthur Albiston and Frank Stapleton have already pledged their support to the game.

The Manchester United Legends game will kick off at 2.30pm on Saturday, August 3.
