Marcus Rashford will need to be handed a brand new squad number at Manchester United, after being stripped of his old one last summer.
Rashford, who has not played a competitive fixture for Man United since a Europa League meeting with Viktoria Plzen in December 2024, is back with the squad after travelling to the Republic of Ireland for a pre-season training camp.

The 28-year-old’s United career had previously appeared to be all but over after he was frozen out by former boss Ruben Amorim, having spent time out on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona.
However, it would appear that he could figure into Michael Carrick's plans for the upcoming season.
“I've played with him. I played in the game he made his debut, so we have a history,” Carrick said when asked about Rashford following Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.
“We have got a full squad this week in Dublin. We fly straight there and have a few days where we have the whole group back together.
“Marcus is part of that, and Kobbie and Lisandro. We look forward to seeing them.”
Upon linking up with his Man Utd team-mates, it has quickly become clear that Rashford is without a squad number after his No10 shirt was handed to Matheus Cunha after the Brazilian joined the club from Wolves for £62.5million.
As such, the England international is facing somewhat of an awkward scenario. With that said, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Rashford will be given the No14 shirt.
Rashford wore No14 during his loan spell at Barcelona and the shirt number has been vacant at Old Trafford since Christian Eriksen left the club at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
This suggests the forward - under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2028 - will have a role to play under Carrick in the 2026-27 season, assuming no bids arrive before the transfer window closes.
