Manchester United manager Solskjaer issues Rashford, Gomes and Dalot injury updates

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided injury updates on Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes.

The Manchester United trio were all missing from Solskjaer's squad for Wednesday's meeting with Rochdale in the Carabao Cup as the manager made nine changes to his side from the weekend defeat by West Ham.

Solskjaer named another youthful side for the League Cup encounter but was unable to call upon Gomes following his cameo appearance at the London Stadium.

Despite their absences against Rochdale, Solskjaer says he hopes to have both Dalot and Gomes back for the Europa League game away to AZ Alkmaar next week, while the United manager hopes to see Rashford return before the October international break after he sustained a groin problem against West Ham.

"They are injured," Solskjaer told MUTV of Dalot and Gomes. "They haven't trained the last couple days, unfortunately. Hopefully they can be back for Alkmaar next week, that is what we are hoping."

Rashford started for United at the weekend but was forced off an hour into the 2-0 defeat.

The England international's absence meant United had to finish the game without a recognised striker on the pitch, but Solskjaer hopes to have the forward back sometime next month.

Speaking about Rashford's injury, the manager added: "He is recovering, he is not very, very bad so we hope to see him before international break."
