Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has accused Jamie Carragher of trying to unsettle Manchester United ahead of the Premier League showdown with Liverpool this weekend.
Carragher was critical of Solskjaer on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show in the wake of the 4-2 defeat to Leicester City at the weekend.
The former Liverpool defender suggested Solskjaer wasn't good enough to manage United and that the club needed a change if they were to win the Premier League or the Champions League.
Solskjaer didn't watch the show but knows he can't always avoid the headlines, although he did hint the timing of the criticism ahead of what is a huge Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday might not have been coincidental.
"It doesn’t affect me but of course you see some of the comments, we’ve got Liverpool on Sunday as well so Jamie is always looking at these little things," said Solskjaer.
"I’ve got my values, my way of managing, I believe in myself, as long as the club believes in me, I'm pretty sure Jamie Carragher’s opinion isn’t going to change that."
Carragher and Gary Neville discussed Solskjaer's future on Monday, with United in a poor run of form at the moment with just two wins in their previous seven games.
While Neville refused to call for his former teammate to go, Carragher said United had to consider a change in the dugout.
"There is a feeling that if Ole wins a trophy, he should stay in a job. United are only going to win the FA Cup or Europa League - if he won one of them, United will still need to have a better manager," he said.
"That's not a criticism of Ole but they need a manager that can compete with the other managers in this league.
"He knows himself as does every Manchester United fan, that he isn't at the same level as the other manager at the top of the Premier League."
