Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reassured Diogo Dalot he has a bright future at Manchester United despite the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
United bought Wan-Bissaka, 21, from Crystal Palace for a fee that could rise to £50million just a year after they paid Porto £19m to buy Dalot.
Dalot, 20, was touted as United's right-back 'for the next 10 years' by Jose Mourinho but the Portuguese endured a fitful first season with United, making 17 starts and six substitute appearances.
A report falsely claimed Dalot had been told he could leave and United now have two raw right-backs to choose from. However, Solskjaer stressed that having two young options per position is part of United's transfer strategy change.
"We're trying to build a squad that can have a long life," Solskjaer explained. "And with Diogo and Aaron we have got two right-backs that will be very good players.
"Diogo can play right wing and has probably gone from right-back to being able to play right wing. And Aaron has been right wing that can play right-back.
"They can give us good options on the right and Ashley can play both sides, he's played in the World Cup last summer for England at left-back and he can push Luke and Aaron and Diogo, no bother."
