Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals goal for pre season

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's goal for pre-season is for as many of his players as possible to come through the fixture-packed period unscathed.

Solskjaer believes his charges will be more likely to start the campaign slugglishly if they are forced to miss periods of pre-season through injury.

"You want to get everyone through and you want to get there without any niggles, and losing three or four days," Solskjaer told the United app.

"I have been part of it myself when you have stop-start pre-seasons, you don't really get your rhythm going. But it is a long season and if you get these six weeks in, then the league starts and there are still three to four weeks there when we have only one game a week, so we can get some proper work done there as well. Then, let's see.

"I am sure that when the league starts we will be ready, sharp and fit enough."

United touched down in Australia on Monday and have been training at the WACA ahead of Saturday's game against Perth Glory at the Optus Stadium.

Solskjaer has been enjoying United's training sessions but he is looking forward to getting some matches under his belt.

"That (matches) is the best," the Norwegian added. "You want the kit on. Training is good and we play 11-a-side, but as soon as you get your kit on you are playing with tour teammates and against someone else it's different.

"That is when we can see if the work we have done will take a bit of time, or if they have grasped it already."
