Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Paul Pogba PFA Team of the Year inclusion

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended Paul Pogba's inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year by insisting it was 'thoroughly deserved'.

The Manchester United midfielder was controversially named in the best XI as voted for by players despite a turbulent season which has seen him struggle for consistency.

Pogba was the only player named in the line up who does not play for title challengers Liverpool and Manchester City, and features in a midfield three along with Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho.

The 26-year-old has netted 13 goals and notched nine assists in the Premier League this season, but despite his phenomenal stats many critics don't believe he justified his inclusion.

However, Solskjaer has defended the midfielder and insists that the French international does deserve to be included in the Team of the Year.

"They play against him week in, week out," the United manager told MUTV.

"We have him in our team and of course that is thoroughly deserved. We really want to see the best from him in the last three games.

"We have some loads of good football from Paul and some other players as well . Let's make sure we focus on these three games. Players, or teams, they don't look forward to play against us and we need to get back to that."
