Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offers Duncan Ferguson advice ahead of Everton visit

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expecting "100 percent action and passion" from Duncan Ferguson's Everton at Old Trafford this weekend.

The two sides meet on Sunday afternoon with Ferguson looking to make it two wins from two since taking over all first team affairs on a temporary basis following Marco Silva’s sacking after the 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool.

After beating Spurs last Wednesday, Solskjaer’s United backed up the victory with a 2-1 win over Man City at the Etihad on Saturday evening before securing their passage into the knockout rounds of the Europa League with a 4-0 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.

And when asked whether he had any advice for Ferguson, the Norwegian replied:“Do I have any advice? Just to be himself. If you try to be someone else you're going to get found out anyway in the end. That's what I've always tried to be, myself.

“I'm sure Big Dunc is the same. He was 100 per cent action and passion as a player and I'm sure he's the same as a manager."

Everton claimed a 4-0 win over United when the two sides met at Goodison in April, but Solskjaer insists Ferguson’s side will be coming up against a different United team this time round.

“It's a vital period for us of course.” he added.“Home games, we want to get points in. I know Everton, they've had a big upturn with Big Dunc last week. I watched the game.

“It's a team that's going to come here and make it hard for us, but we need to keep carrying on. We're too far behind. We need to keep this momentum going. Last week was good but it's history now. There's a next one.

“We lost quite clearly against Everton last year. We've spoke enough about what happened that day and how we looked like a team.

"It was more or less a shambles, but I've said too many times this year as well, we're not that group anymore. This is a different group, a group that's ready for the fight and is ready for the football.”
