Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives Luke Shaw injury update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Luke Shaw will be fit for Manchester United's trip to Southampton next Saturday after picking up an injury against Crystal Palace.

Shaw was replaced by Ashley Young after feeling tightness in his hamstring during the first half of United's 2-1 defeat by Palace.

The 24-year-old had originally attempted to run the problem off but was soon replaced after it became apparent he would not be able to do so.

Solskjaer does not have an out-and-out left-back in his ranks to replace Shaw with and he confirmed the club will learn the extent of the player's injury next week.

"We will do the scans tomorrow but he felt something in his hamstring," Solskjaer said. "Hopefully he won't be too bad and will be back for Southampton."

Daniel James also suffered a minor injury scare in the first half of United's loss but overcame the issue and went on to score an 88th-minute equaliser before United were stunned by Patrick van Aanholt in injury time.
