Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Mason Greenwood thoroughly deserves to make his full Manchester United debut against Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.
The 17-year-old makes his first start for United on the final day of the season and is one of five changes from the side which drew with Huddersfield last weekend.
United will be hoping to finish their season on a high and Solskjaer is confident that Greenwood will be capable of transferring his phenomenal form at youth level into the senior side.
The England youth international has netted 30 goals in 29 starts this season, and speaking ahead of the match Solskjaer insisted that he had no hesitation to give Greenwood his opportunity in the first-team.
“I think so we have been waiting to play Mason," he told MUTV. "He has been unlucky with a couple of niggly injuries.
"He has been training with us now for the last three or four months, he has been looking really good. He has done well in the youth team and the reserves as well. Finally he felt good and we started him."
Solskjaer knows all about scoring goals for the first-team and speaking ahead of the clash with Cardiff he told Greenwood to enjoy the occasion.
The United manager added: “I don’t think he will be fazed, he is not that type of player. It is just natural for him, he loves playing football. So just enjoy the occasion, go out and express yourself! I'm sure he'll do okay."
