Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag shares Casemiro verdict ahead of Chelsea fixture

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised the impact of Casemiro in recent weeks, but insisted that the midfielder is only going to get better the more he plays.

The Brazilian star arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for £60million, rising to £70m. He signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional year.

Since joining the Reds, the 30-year-old has made 11 appearances for Ten Hag's side, which has included six starts. Casemiro has started the last three Premier League matches and has played a vital role in United recording victories over Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ten Hag utilised Casemiro from the bench in his first few matches following his summer switch from Los Blancos, and the Dutchman has suggested that the combative midfielder is now starting to find his feet in Manchester.

''I think from game to game he is doing better. I was impressed by his performance on Wednesday," Ten Hag told in-house media.

"But what you see, every game he is getting better. I hope he keeps going in that process and I will do everything to support it.''

Casemiro, who won five Champions League titles with Madrid, was named Man of the Match in the recent victory over Frank Lampard's side, with the Brazilian international also recording an assist against the Toffees.

He had to be patient and wait for his opportunity to start for the Reds, with Scott McTominay initially holding on to his place in Ten Hag's starting XI. However, it appeared that it was only a matter of time before the 30-year-old cemented himself in the club's first-team plans.

The midfielder is likely to start for United when they face off against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, with the Reds able to leapfrog their opponents in the Premier League table with a victory in London.
