Manchester United 'make Van de Beek and Havertz decision' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have decided to focus their attention on signing Donny van de Beek rather than Kai Havertz this summer, according to reports.

Although there is financial uncertainty in the game due to the coronavirus crisis, United are planning to press ahead with their transfer plans this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to enhance his side's attacking threat and would ideally like to add a winger, centre-midfielder and playmaker to his squad.

Although M.E.N. Sport understands that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is the club's primary target for the attacking midfielder role, plenty of other names have also been touted.

Club great and current Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar has confirmed that his old side have been interested in his talented midfielder Van de Beek, while M.E.N. Sport has reported that Havertz would be open to a move to Old Trafford this summer after another impressive campaign.

Havertz has bagged 15 goals this season which has made him the Bundesliga's top scorer by the age of 21 but, understandably, he is being chased by a number of top clubs.

Chelsea are one of them and, The Daily Star claims that Frank Lampard's side now have a free-run to sign Havertz after United decided to prioritise Van de Beek.

It's claimed that as the Dutchman is just as effective in front of goal and would cost significantly less than Havertz that United will now try and sign him to bolster their creative options.

Elsewhere in United's midfield chase, the club are once again being linked with Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi.

The Nigerian has proved to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the league in recent season and is always rating highly in the tackling stats.

According to the Express, United will make a move for Ndidi if they fail to sign Van de Beek - even though they are very different players - but will face competition from Real Madrid and PSG.
