Manchester United make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision ahead of Premier League game with Tottenham

Manchester United have decided that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will remain in charge as manager despite their heavy defeat to Liverpool at the weekend, according to the latest reports.

The 5-0 drubbing at the hands of their closest rivals left United fans bitterly disappointed on Sunday and many have called for the club to part ways with the Norwegian.

However, Sky Sports are now reporting that he will remain in charge for the time being, and there is no suggestion from inside the club that Solskjaer's job is under threat at this point.

Several names have been linked with the position, including the likes of Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane, but if reports are to be believed, for now at least, Solskjaer won't be replaced.

It is news that has implications for Tottenham Hotspur too as it means that Solskjaer is set to be in charge for United's trip to Spurs this weekend.

Saturday evening's clash is a must-win game for both teams.

Tottenham are currently one point ahead of United in the Premier League table, but Nuno Espirito Santo's side are going through a rough patch having had an extremely bad week thanks to losses to Vitesse in the Europa Conference League and West Ham just three days later.

Spurs travel to Burnley in the Carabao Cup before the United clash, however.

Victory against Sean Dyche's team would secure Tottenham's place in the quarter-final of the competition.

The Lilywhites made it to last season's final under Jose Mourinho, but the club sacked him just six days prior to the cup final.

Ryan Mason stepped in to oversee his old side, but Spurs ended up losing to Manchester City 1-0 as Pep Guardiola won the competition for a fourth time.
