Manchester United 'make enquiry' for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have made an enquiry for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule, reports in Germany say.

United are on the search for defensive reinforcements for a second summer transfer window, and have been linked with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Matthijs de Ligt, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire.

They were also said to be interested in Sule's Bayern teammate Jerome Boateng last summer.

However, a new name has now emerged, as Sport1 say United have identified Sule as a potential target and have lodged an enquiry about his availability.

Sule, 23, joined Bayern in 2017, and has gone on to establish himself as first choice in the Bundesliga leaders' defence, while he has started all but one of Germany's fixtures since the World Cup.

Sule would not come cheap, though, as he cost Bayern £21m from Hoffenheim two years ago, and still has three years remaining on his contract.
