Manchester United 'make contact over Moussa Dembele transfer' and more transfer gossip

Manchester United have 'made Lyon aware' of their interest in star striker Moussa Dembele, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to have a significant budget at his disposal to add to his United squad in the summer and a striker may be at the top of his wanted list.

The future of Romelu Lukaku seems uncertain with several Italian clubs reportedly circling and his departure would leave Marcus Rashford as the only senior striker in the club.

As a result, the Daily Mirror, via L'Equipe, report that United 'are desperate to improve their striking options this summer' and that Solskjaer has 'stepped up his pursuit' of Dembele.

The 22-year-old made the switch to Ligue 1 from Celtic last summer and has impressed in France, scoring 20 times in all competitions.

It's reported that 'United chiefs have made contact with the French giants over the possibility of signing the striker in the summer.'

It's claimed that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are also interested in Dembele, whose contract doesn't expire until 2023.

Meanwhile, United are 'set to join James Rodriguez transfer scramble,' according to reports.

Rodriguez' two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich comes to an end in the summer when he'll rejoin Real Madrid.

However, The Sun, via Marca, report that 'Zinedine Zidane does not want him' and 'Bayern boss Niko Kovac has fallen out with Rodriguez and their relationship is broken beyond repair.'
