Manchester United make contact over Crysencio Summerville deal as transfer plans ramp up

Transfer target: West Ham and Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville is attracting plenty of interest - (Getty)

Manchester United have made contact over a move for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

Standard Sport understands that Summerville’s representatives have been approached by Man Utd regarding the terms of a potential deal.

However, any conversations have been exploratory, with no club-to-club talks taking place and United assessing a number of options as they look to bring in a new winger this summer.

Summerville is attracting plenty of interest ahead of next season after an impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands, in which he recorded two goals and as many assists.

The 24-year-old, who is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2029, also produced seven goals and five assists across all competitions as West Ham were relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season.

After the Netherlands were knocked out of the World Cup on penalties by Morocco in the round of 32 earlier this week, attention has now quickly turned back to Summerville’s club future.

West Ham are under pressure to sell players this summer, even after sanctioning the departure of midfielder Mateus Fernandes to rivals Tottenham for a fee in the region of £85million.

With Summerville expected to leave and captain Jarrod Bowen also attracting top-flight interest, West Ham have already begun to sound out potential wide replacements.

Standard Sport understands that they hold an interest in Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu, with the Foxes, who themselves are under financial pressure following relegation to League One, reported to be open to offers between £15-£20m.

The Hammers have made one signing so far this summer, exercising their £1m option to make Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid’s loan deal from Deportivo La Guaira permanent.
