The January transfer window is now open but we are no closer to finding out what the future holds for Christian Eriksen.
The Dane is in the seventh and what would appear to be final year of his spell with Tottenham Hotspur.
Eriksen's contract in N17 expires at the end of this season, leaving him free to sign for another club.
There is no indication that he will make a u-turn and change his mind about staying at Spurs, after admitting last summer that he was looking for a "new challenge".
football.london understands there were no bids for the playmaker last summer, but he is sure to be inundated with offers from the continent now, given that he can speak to other European clubs about a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer transfer.
Real Madrid and Manchester United have been most heavily linked in the past, with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan also showing a keen interest in the 27-year-old now.
But if United are going to sign Eriksen it looks like they will do it in the summer now, rather than January.
Spurs will be hoping to make some money from Eriksen, by selling him this month, rather than losing him on a free in the summer, but United will not be one of those bidding for his services during the winter window.
At least not according to our friends at the Manchester Evening News .
In a piece looking at United's lack of transfer activity in the midfield department since Fred arrived in 2018, the MEN say that, according to their sources, there is a "high possibility" United will go another window without reinforcing the midfield.
That means that if United are interested in Eriksen, they will have to hope no European sides strike up a pre-contract agreement with the Dane this month.
