Manchester United loanee reveals positive Covid-19 test

Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri has revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 20-year-old will now self isolate after testing positive and will miss Alaves' clash with Real Sociedad tonight (Sunday).

Pellistri signed for United for almost £10m last season and, after settling down to life in Manchester during the pandemic, it was eventually decided that the youngster would head out on loan to the Spanish outfit for the second half of the campaign.

The winger made 12 appearances in La Liga towards the back end of last season and would re-join the Spanish side on loan again for this season.

After making a slow start to the season, Pellistri is now a regular in the side, although he is still looking to score his first senior goal.

On his Twitter page, Pellistri confirmed his Covid case, writing: "I want to inform you that in the last hours I tested positive for Covid-19.

"I feel good, at home and without symptoms, following medical instructions and training to join the squad when the time is right.

"Happy New Year! For a 2022 of many successes and health!"
