Manchester United linked with Benfica striker amid Ighalo uncertainty and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Odion Ighalo.

While both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and chief Ed Woodward have admitted the next transfer window won't be like any other, United are still planning to reinforce their attacking ranks in the summer.

M.E.N. Sport understands that a winger, playmaker and centre-midfielder are high on their list of priorities but they may also look to sign a striker as well.

After opting against signing Erling Braut Haaland in January, United instead brought in Ighalo as a short-term alternative on loan for the rest of the season from Shanghai Shenhua.

The Nigerian has been an unexpected hit at Old Trafford, with four goals and an assist in his eight appearances before the Premier League was suspended due to the coronavirus.

With the return to action still not yet set in stone and Ighalo's loan spell set to expire at the end of June, it's not clear if United will be able to keep him for the rest of the season, although they could look to extend his loan spell.

Reports also suggest that Shanghai will demand a hefty fee to allow the 30-year-old to return to Manchester.

Record, via SportWitness, report that United have interest in the 25-year-old Vinicius, who has bagged 20 goals and 12 assists in 36 matches this season,

However, it's claimed that United have yet to make a formal approach for the 25-year-old Brazilian, who is rated at €40million.

M.E.N. Sport understands that United are monitoring RB Leipzig's Timo Werner and Lyon's Moussa Dembele as possible striker signings this summer.

Meanwhile, Adrien Rabiot’s agent has been in constant contact with United as he looks to secure a summer move from Juventus, according to Calcio Mercato.

They suggest the French midfielder is keen on a move at the end of the season and has urged his representatives to make contact with United.

After refusing to sign a new contract at Paris-Saint Germain last summer Rabiot opted to leave the club on a free transfer and MEN Sport understand he was briefly on United ‘s radar before he confirmed his move to Juventus on July 1.
