Manchester United line up vs Sheffield United includes Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood

Manchester United have included Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in their starting 11 for the first time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made three changes to his United side from the one that faced Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night, with Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood coming in.

Daniel James, Fred and Scott McTominay drop to the bench.

United drew 1-1 with Tottenham on their return to action last Friday night, with Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot after Pogba was fouled.

Sheffield United are without Dean Henderson, the United loanee goalkeeper who is ineligible to face his parent club, as well as the suspended John Egan.

Solskjaer spoke about the options at his disposal before the game and looks again to have lots of depth on the United bench this evening.

“Yeah, I’ve got a strong squad," said the Norwegian. "We have put two good 11s out in internal matches, in-house matches, and still players are not able to get onto the pitch. So the squad is strong, and when the game gets towards the last 15-20 minutes, it opens up and it stretches.

"Then you need fresh legs to make a difference, and we certainly had players who made an impact when they came on against Spurs.

“Of course, we want to build momentum and win games, because if you can win back-to-back games or two or three games, it’s going to give you that momentum and a gap maybe. But we have to think ‘next game’. Just win the next one, win the next one.

"So if you go one game at a time, I think that’s the only thing we have to concentrate on now. It’s a mini-league, a mini-season, and don’t think too far ahead.”

Man United team:  De Gea; Wan-Bssaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.

Subs: Romero, James, Bailly, McTominay, Fred, Ighalo, Pereira, Williams, Mata.
