Manchester United line up against Arsenal includes Fred and Matic but no Paul Pogba

Manchester United have confirmed their team news for the New Year's day fixture against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made three changes from the side which defeated Burnley at the weekend with Paul Pogba still absent from the first-team squad.

David de Gea starts in goal with Harry Maguire partnered by Victor Lindelof in the heart of the defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka returns at right back while Luke Shaw starts on the left.

Fred and Nemanja Matic retain their starting spots in midfield along with the returning Jesse Lingard, while Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James start up front.

Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba remain absent through injury while academy star Mason Greenwood is on the bench.

United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Lindelof, Maguire, Matic, Fred, Lingard, James, Rashford, Martial.

Subs: Romero, Jones, Williams, Young, Pereira, Mata, Greenwood.
