Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney identifies where Marcus Rashford can improve

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a rapid ascent since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the caretaker manager role at Manchester United but Wayne Rooney insists he can improve in one key area.

The 21-year-old has become an integral part of United’s attack since the departure of Jose Mourinho in December, with Rashford now no longer a peripheral figure.

Instead, Rashford has been used ahead of Romelu Lukaku in the last three months but former United striker Rooney believes the England starlet can still make improvements.

Whilst Rooney is a big fan of Rashford and expects him to make further strides in the coming years, the former United captain has identified one area of improvement for the forward.

“Marcus has got a bit of everything that’s for sure. He’s quick and strong and it’s great to see him doing so well,” Rooney told TalkSPORT.

“The only thing he can work on is his heading but he has certainly got a bright future.”

Rashford is a key player for England as well as United but will have to wait for his next international action after an injury blow.

England manager Gareth Southgate confirmed on Thursday that Rashford has returned to United's Carrington training ground with an ankle problem and will not take part in internationals against Czech Republic on Friday evening and in Montenegro on Monday.
