Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand jokes he removed Man City Sergio Aguero mural

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has joked he was behind the removal of Sergio Aguero's mural in Manchester.

Aguero's Manchester City career came to an end this summer after a remarkable 10-year spell at the Etihad and the centre-forward's achievements were commemorated by a mural in the Northern Quarter in Manchester, which paid tribute to his iconic 2012 QPR goal.

Of course, the Blues dramatically won the Premier League on the last day of the season at United's expense on that occasion and Ferdinand played under Sir Alex Ferguson as the news came through at Sunderland's Stadium of Light that City had snatched it.

Aguero has since joined Barcelona and the mural depicting his famous title-winning goal was eventually removed last week, but now Ferdinand has shared a video on his Twitter page and, in that short clip, he jokes he was responsible for bringing it down.

Do you think the Aguero mural should have been permanent? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

"On my way to the studio, I've had to walk past the mural of Sergio Aguero," Ferdinand says in the video.

"It was disturbing my day actually, but I made a few calls and here we are [points at mural being removed].

"This is what I do!"
