Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand issues Tyson Fury demand over Old Trafford fight plans
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Tyson Fury to take on Anthony Joshua at Old Trafford following his win over Deontay Wilder.
Fury looks set to face Dillian Whyte in his next bout – provided he beats Otto Wallin later this month – with the interim champion the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt.
Fury though has suggested he wants to fight at Old Trafford at some point as he eyes up some homecoming bouts, having fought in the United States for his last five outings.
Joshua is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in the spring after losing his titles to the Ukrainian last month, but could finally come up against Fury should he win back his belts.
“Tyson Fury by the way, wow! What a fight,” Ferdinand said on the FIVE YouTube channel.
“Forget if you think [Wilder’s] a good or a bad fighter, whatever, there’s no way you can say Fury’s not a great fighter.
“That fight for me goes down as one of the best ever. It was unreal. He gets knocked down, gets up, knocks him out.
“Fury is one of the greatest athletes of our generation. He’s an inspirational guy.
“I want Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua at Old Trafford. Tyson, get it done! Please get that fight at Old Trafford.”
Ferdinand also passed on some advice to Wilder after the Bronze Bomber snubbed Fury following his defeat.
“Forget Wilder, man! Forget him. He can’t take it. He goes to his corner and [refuses] to talk. Lose with some dignity, man.”
