Manchester United legend Paul McGrath confirms his son has been found

Former Manchester United star Paul McGrath has confirmed his son has been found safe and well.

McGrath, took to Twitter last night to reveal his son of the same name had gone missing.

He said he was "very concerned" about him asking: "Has anyone seen my son Paul in around Hale, Manchester, London or any airports in the past few days?

"Police have been informed but we are very concerned and someone somewhere might have spotted him. Thank you."

His appeal was shared more then 35,000 times including by a number of former United teammates and other ex-professionals.

However the 59 year-old confirmed this afternoon that his son, who is in his early twenties, had now been found.

The M.E.N received a report that Paul Jr had been spotted in London and Mr McGrath thanked the Metropolitan Police, as well as social media users who shared the post, for their help.

He said: "Thanks to the power of social media & Metropolitan Police my son Paul has been located.

"The love and support shown to myself and my family has been phenomenal.

"From the bottom of our hearts we thank you #grateful."

A Republic of Ireland international made over 150 appearances between 1982 and 1989 winning the FA Cup in 1985.
