Manchester United legend Gary Neville responds again in war of words with Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has hit back once again at the club's former striker Romelu Lukaku, as the spat between the pair shows no sign of relenting.

After Neville criticised Lukaku over his weight and professionalism in the latter stages of last season — before he left for Inter Milan in the summer — the Belgian responded in a brutally honest and wide-ranging interview.

"Don't question my professionalism," Lukaku told  BBC Sport.  "I live for this game. I am at home all the time. I try to do everything to improve."

A fan pressed Neville further for his reaction to Lukaku's response. He also quizzed Neville on the reasoning for criticising the former United striker, with Neville taking to Twitter to stand by his comments about Lukaku's attitude.

"I’m hearing you," Neville responded.

"I’m delighted he’s left. I won’t be happy till everyone single one of them that think they are better and bigger than the club and don’t want to be here are gone! Nothing at all about his nationality or him not being a good player. He will always score goals."

Lukaku has indeed started well at Inter and netted a goal on his debut for the club last week.

In his previous interview he accepted Neville had his opinions, adding: "We are grown men. He is a pundit. He gets paid to say this kind of stuff. I am paid to play football. I just want to do my best for Inter Milan. That is it."

But the war of words between the pair is real.

United fans will continue to question the sale of Lukaku for £73.7million on deadline day — and the lack of a replacement — so long as the club's struggles continue. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side drew 1-1 with Southampton on Saturday to leave them with just five points from four games.
