Manchester United issue Timothy Fosu-Mensah update

Manchester United have confirmed that Timothy Fosu-Mensah has returned to the club to undergo rehabilitation from recent surgery.

The youngster has undergone knee ligament surgery following an injury he sustained while playing for loan club Fulham last weekend.

Fosu-Mensah was forced off during the 2-0 win over Everton at Craven Cottage last Saturday and will now return to United as he looks to rebuild his fitness.

The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances while on-loan at Fulham this season as the club were relegated back to the Championship following just one year in the Premier League.

A club statement read: "Everyone at the club wishes Tim well with his recovery."

Fosu-Mensah's injury brings to an end what has been a turbulent season for him at club level after he struggled to establish himself under any of the three managers at Fulham.

However, despite his lack of involvement it’s believed Fosu-Mensah enjoyed his time at Fulham and in an apology to fans following the club's relegation he said: “I want to apologise to all the amazing fans and say I’m sorry I couldn’t help keep the club up this season.

“We did all we could but it just wasn’t enough. It’s a fantastic club and I know you will be back in the premier league very soon.”
