Manchester United issue statement on fans protesting against Glazers at Carrington

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke with Manchester United supporters who protested against the Glazer family's ownership at Carrington this morning.

Around 20 fans breached security at the training complex to unfurl banners that read '51% MUFC 20', 'We decide when you play' and 'Glazer out'.

The '51%' is a reference to fans holding the majority of voting rights at a club, which is commonplace in German football.

United say the supporters have now left the premises after expressing their anger at the club's willingness to participate in the breakaway Super League.

A United statement said: "At approximately 9am this morning a group gained access to the club training ground.

"The manager and others spoke to them. Buildings were secure and the group has now left the site."

The Manchester Evening News understands the majority of United players were not present as they were not due to arrive for training until 10am.

When he was a player, Solskjaer voiced his opposition to the Glazer takeover three months before it was completed in May 2005.

The United supporters posed outside the entrance into the main building and on the first-team training pitch which is situated behind the rear of the building.

At 9.23am, the RedIssue Twitter account posted: "Breaking: Utd fans protesting against the Glazers have blocked both entrances to Carrington." A thread to the tweet features three pictures, at the time of writing.
