Manchester United have confirmed fans attending games at Old Trafford must demonstrate their Covid-19 status if they are to be permitted entry into the stadium.
From the home game against Burnley on December 30 onwards, all supporters aged 18 or over must present either proof of double vaccination via the NHS Covid pass, evidence of a negative PCR or lateral flow test taken within 48 hours prior to kick-off, or a valid medical exemption.
Players and staff within the 'relevant person' group will be subject to the separate Premier League protocols and testing programme.
Face masks will be mandatory in indoor sections, such as concourses and hospitality suites, except when eating or drinking. Fans are requested to wear face coverings at the turnstiles.
The United chief operating officer, Collette Roche, said: "Manchester United, alongside the Premier League, remain committed to helping keep supporters safe throughout the season.
“We have been mandated by the Government to implement these new rules and we urge all fans to prepare accordingly for matches they plan to attend.
“It’s particularly important that fans download their NHS COVID Pass to their phones before travelling to Old Trafford, and that they arrive at the stadium early to avoid delays at the turnstiles, where we will be conducting extensive spot checks.”
What matchgoers must do:
- Before arriving at Old Trafford for a match, all fans aged 18 or over should ensure that they have a valid NHS COVID Pass, or international equivalent; or evidence of a valid negative test result; or valid proof of medical exemption, ready to display upon request. Passes should be downloaded to phones before arriving at Old Trafford.
- Fans are also required to self-declare that they will have an approved form of COVID certification before attending Old Trafford. This will be an online process. All ticket holders will be emailed instructions on how to self-declare.
- Fans are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the detailed Government guidance here and the spectator’s Code of Conduct, which applies to all games at Old Trafford and has been updated with the new measures, here.
